What treatment options does massage therapy and our clinic in Central Edmonton offer?

Therapeutic massage offers a set of tools which can be used to relief symptoms like e.g. pain and discomfort. What conditions or ailments are treatable with therapeutic massage?

There are a number of ailments like e.g. sports injuries, soft tissue injuries, joint pain, and headaches for which therapeutic massage have become known to improve or treat the condition. Further massage can prevent injuries when applied before athletic exercise. However, massage isn't meant as a replacement for other medical care but rather as an accompanying treatment.

 
Can massage be painful?

Therapeutic massage techniques can be discomforting for the patient, but an experienced massage therapist with proper education will prevent aggravation of the medical condition. Our therapists are professionally trained, are registered in the Province of Alberta, and have gained a high level of experience.

 
Can a massage therapy treatment cause muscle soreness?

In therapeutic massage, especially when deep pressure techniques are used, some people may feel mild muscle soreness for 1 or 2 days. Most of our patients experience significant relief from aches, pain and stress after their massage session.

Are the massage therapists of Jasper 124 Massage Therapy Clinic registered?

Yes, all of our therapists have successfully completed at least 2 years of post secondary education in an accredited program (min. 2200 hours) and are in good standing with all provincial/national regulatory boards.

 
How old does a person need to be to receive massage therapy?

Massage therapy can be beneficial for patients of any age, including infants, children, and the elderly. However, for some conditions massage therapy is not the appropriate treatment. Our therapists are trained to spot these cases and will act accordingly.

 
Do I have to remove my clothing for massage therapy?

Our massage therapists can provide important treatment whether you elect to remove any, some, or all of your clothing. Further our staff is trained in proper draping procedures to ensure that your privacy is completely respected at all times during the treatment. Comfort and the ability to relax are important factors for an effective treatment.

 
How long does a typical massage treatment take?

Our offer includes massage sessions of a length from anywhere between 15 minutes to 2 hours. Treatments with a duration of 60-90 minutes tend to be most popular, because the available time allows the therapist to address the problem areas of your condition.

 
How many massage therapy treatments should I have?

Especially in acute conditions massage therapy is most beneficial when used over a series of treatments, and then followed up with maintenance or preventive care. Ask our therapist for help establishing a program fitting to your physical needs and lifestyle.

 
Will I need a prescription from my doctor for massage therapy?

A prescription is not needed to receive treatment, but some benefit companies and insurance providers might ask for a doctor's prescription in order to provide their service. If you are unsure, it is best to check with your insurance provider first before beginning the treatment.
